I Made Measurement Uncertainty So Easy,
Your Kids Could Estimate Uncertainty
This uncertainty calculator was designed to help you easily estimate measurement uncertainty for your ISO/IEC 17025 scope of accreditation. The goal was to make calculating measurement uncertainty so simple, anyone could use it.
So, I spent time adding new features that allow you to simply enter data and get results!
Here is how it works
Step 1: Complete a 5 or 6 Question Survey
Step 2: Enter the calibration results from your last 3 certificates
Step 3: Enter your Repeatability and Reproducibility Results
Step 4: Evaluate Linearity (optional)
Step 5: Review your budget and add more sources of uncertainty (if needed)
Step 6: Review your CMC Uncertainty
Step 7: Save your results and/or Print
Step 8: Update your scope of accreditation.
If you have all of your data ready, you can use my calculator to estimate measurement uncertainty in less than 5 minutes!

What can this calculator do…
Auto Populate Data
No more double data entry. Type information and data once and this uncertainty calculator for measurements will automatically populate information into other areas of the calculator.
Less Data Entry + Saving Time = Awesome!
Automatic Data Analysis
Have data but don’t know how to analyze it?
No worries, I have you covered. Just add the results from your calibration reports and your repeatability and reproducibility studies, then the calculator will automatically analyze your data and add it to your uncertainty budget.
How cool is that!
Single and Two Uncertainty Budget Options
Need to estimate measurement uncertainty for a single test-point or a measurement range, this uncertainty calculator for excel has you covered.
With room for 20 sources of uncertainty each, these uncertainty budgets can handle your toughest uncertainty analyses.
One Uncertainty Budget Option – Great for single point uncertainty analysis
Two Uncertainty Budget Option – Great for uncertainty analysis for a measurement range
Automatic CMC Uncertainty Calculator
Have a hard time calculating CMC Uncertainty equations for your scope of accreditation? Great! I have fixed your problem. This calculator automatically calculates your CMC Uncertainty coefficients and gives you options to convert your results to % and ppm.
Automatic CMC Uncertainty Calculator
Never wonder how to write a CMC Uncertainty equation again. This calculator does it for you. This Uncertainty Calculator automatically generates three uncertainty equations for you. All you need to do is pick the version you want to put in your scope of accreditation.
Automatic Rounding to Two Significant Figures
Confused by significant figures? No worries, I fixed that problem too! This calculator automatically rounds your results to two significant figures to help you avoid silly audit deficiencies.
Instructions included in the Calculator
Not sure how to use an excel uncertainty calculator? I’ve included instructions every step of the way to help you easily estimate uncertainty in measurement. Stop wondering what to do and just get things done!
BONUS 1: Linearity Calculator Included
In case you need to include linearity in your uncertainty budget, we have added a calculator to help you automatically calculate linearity uncertainty.
BONUS 2: Hysteresis Calculator Included
In case you need to include hysteresis in your uncertainty budget, we have added a calculator to help you automatically calculate hysteresis uncertainty.
Meets A2LA’s R205 Measurement Uncertainty Requirements
Are you ISO/IEC 17025 accredited by A2LA? Great! My uncertainty calculator will help you meet A2LA R205 requirements by including the minimum sources of uncertainty requirements for CMC Uncertainty calculations for your Scope of Accreditation.
You’re welcome!
Estimate Measurement Uncertainty Using the GUM Method
This calculator estimates measurement uncertainty using the GUM method published in the JCGM 100:2008. Unlike other calculators, I use a simplified method for performing the Root Sum of Squares (RSS) function to estimate measurement uncertainty.
No more validating ridiculously long equations used by companies that don’t know how to use Microsoft Excel.
Know Your Largest Contributors to Measurement Uncertainty
This excel calculator tells you which sources of uncertainty contribute the most to your expanded uncertainty. This is great information to know if you need to find your significant contributors or if you want to reduce your measurement uncertainty.
Now, the calculator highlights your largest contributors to make it easier for you to find them.
Select Your Preferred Expansion Factor
Choose whether you want to expand uncertainty using a coverage factor where k=2 or the Student’s T table. This calculator lets you pick with a simple dropdown menu.
Select Your Probability Distribution
This excel calculator has all of the probability distributions you need to estimate uncertainty. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced user, just use the dropdown menu to select your probability distribution and the uncertainty will automatically calculate the correct divisor.
NEW: Navigation Menu
Navigate this uncertainty calculator just like your favorite websites. The new navigation menu allows you to easily click and go to the section you want to go. Super Easy!
NEW: Automatic CMC Uncertainty Equation Calculator
Get perfectly formatted CMC uncertainty equations for your scope of accreditation every time! This Uncertainty Calculator automatically gives you options for your scope of accreditation. Just pick the format that is right for you and add it to your scope of accreditation. Truly Amazing!
Automatic Print Formatting
Never worry about formatting your budgets for printing again. It is now automatically taken care of for you. Always print perfect uncertainty budgets on one page.

This is an ideal software, detailed and helpful. However, I wish there would be less technical explanation. I mean, it would be better if it is simplified the more, to reflect it’s relevant to calibration and testing laboratories
Brian N. Jipp (verified owner) –
It would be very helpful if in the users guide you could explain were the values input into the calculator come from and how they are calculated. this would be especially helpful to novice users.
